About
Since he could hold a pencil, John has loved the visual arts. Native to New Concord, Ohio, he has spent the better part of his life developing and honing his artistic skills and talents and pursuing his passions for painting, drawing, and ceramics.
John received his undergraduate Art degree and education licensure from Muskingum University in 2009; his Master of Fine Arts in Painting and Drawing from the Academy of Art University in 2017; and a Master of Business Administration in Organizational Leadership from National University in 2021. He has previously worked as a public school teacher and manager at Apple, Inc. along with a smaller internet service provider.
Over his career, John has developed a passion for classical realism and traditional painting and drawing methods working in oils and charcoal. John is an award-winning artist — and has exhibited in regional, national, and international shows including New Philadelphia, St. Louis, and Chicago.
Currently, John has the privilege of serving as an Assistant Professor of Art at Muskingum University in the Art & Design department. A talented teacher, John helps his students develop their creative and technical skill and helps them to achieve their vision for their work while discovering their own unique styles.
John’s vision for his own work is to share how he sees the world with you — as a beautiful creation filled with light, shadow, color, and texture — and how every day objects, locations, and people can be sources of inspiration, wonder, and meditation.
